WebLink: The World’s First Browser-Based Barcode Reader Configuration Interface

Microscan introduces the world’s first browser-based barcode reader interface. Set up, test, control, and monitor MicroHAWK barcode readers from the web browser of your choice using the intuitive WebLink user interface. Simply enter a reader’s IP address on any web-enabled host and follow Assisted Setup to start decoding. Adjust reader controls remotely, regardless of physical access to the barcode reader, and monitor decoding results in real time.

Read multiple, static, moving, or damaged codes and even train the interface to adjust settings for challenging conditions.

Auto Photometry AUTO-PHOTOMETRY
Auto-adjust the reader’s exposure and gain to automatically increase symbol contrast for reliable decoding.
Train the barcode reader TRAIN
Train the reader to use the ideal combination of decoding parameters for the target symbol to boost reading power.
Optimize, reduce processes OPTIMIZE
Reduce processes run by the reader, using only those needed to read the target symbol, to increase decode speeds.
Adjust Autofocus AUTOFOCUS
Switch from autofocus (adjusts focus after every five no-reads) to fixed focus (click for spot focus, or set in./mm distances).

Browser Feature Requirements for WebLink

WebLink requires certain features to be supported by the hosting browser. Support for these features are checked before WebLink loads, and if not available, an error dialog is shown.

The following features are required by WebLink and are checked at start up:

  1. Web Sockets
  2. HTML 5 Canvas
  3. HTML 5 Audio

 

OS Requirements for WebLink

  • Windows XP (Must use non-IE browser)
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 10

Note: Use of an Embedded OS (Windows CE) and / or an underpowered machine (limited RAM, disk space) is not recommended.

MicroHAWK was a key player in the Peru presidential election, as shown in this high-speed reading application. We worked with a customer to establish a system where several MicroHAWK Barcode Readers are being used side by side to read codes on ballots for the election. This video illustrates the readers and WebLink software, which allow multiple devices to be configured live and side by side without special software.
